The jury for the Spanish award says Ignatieff has become ‘an essential reference to navigate our current times of war, political polarization and threats to freedom’
Historian and writer Michael Ignatieff has won Spain’s Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences for his “critical reflections on the major conflicts of our time,” prize organizers said Wednesday.
His titles include “The Needs of Strangers” , “Isaiah Berlin: A Life” , and “Human Rights as Politics and Idolatry” . He also has published numerous articles and opinion columns.
