A larger-than-life presence in the studio bean-counting world, De Luca has always been a risktaker with an eye for talent and material and an innate command of popular culture.
He was instrumental in helping to define New Line with such giant hits as “Rush Hour,” “Boogie Nights,” “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “The Mask,” “Dumb & Dumber” and “Mortal Kombat,” as well as collaborations with edgier talent like Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson and Spike Jonze. After a stint at DreamWorks and Sony, he set up his own shop and worked on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy.
