Maritime Junior Hockey League - ContributedSUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Maritime Junior Hockey League has announced details on the resumption of a suspended game between the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals and Edmundston Blizzard.
“We didn’t want to add 20 minutes on top of a three-in-three, and we didn’t also want the team to travel all the way back to Edmundston for one period of hockey,” said Dumville. “We felt it was important to finish the period because the standings are very, very tight right now. “A lot of leagues would have called this a game, but we don’t want to compromise our season in the standings,” said Dumville. “If Summerside comes out and scores two goals in the first five minutes of this 20-minute period, we have ourselves a different game and a different outcome in the standings. We don’t want that to be decided in a game that only played two periods.”Asked what caused the bad ice, Dumville said all he had to go on is the video, which he described as inconclusive.
