Deas Island Regional Park would be affected by how this will be done since an above-ground crossing of the transmission line would mean new towers and lines over it. This would not only have a visual impact, but could affect wildlife. The first preference would be for the transmission line to be included in a new tunnel crossing, but a separate underground crossing could be considered, according to Metro Vancouver staff.
