The unusual fog alert is in place from 1am until 11am for all 26 counties.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Mist and fog patches, dense in places, will linger in some areas for a time this morning, but they will gradually clear to give a largely dry day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, isolated light showers will affect parts of the north and northwest. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in light to moderate northwest breezes.
And as the week goes on there will be plenty more dry and bright conditions as a high pressure system moves across the country. "Dry on Tuesday night, apart from a little drizzle in the far north. Some mist and fog patches forming which will be dense in places. Lows of 4 to 9 degrees.
