Met Eireann has issued double weather warnings for five counties as strong winds and flooding are expected to hit Ireland.
People should be prepared for powerful gusts to arrive reaching up to 100km/h along with heavy rainfall.The national forecaster warned Donegal, Galway and Mayo that from today, 11 February at 3 PM until tomorrow, 12 February of “strong south or southwest winds gusting up to 100km/h”.Additionally, the counties of Cork, Kerry and Galway should be on alert for possible flooding.
“Heavy rain will bring a possibility of flooding. Valid: 18:00 Friday 11/02/2022 to 06:00 Saturday 12/02/2022”.The forecast for the rest of the country is looking very wet with showers spreading throughout the day.Friday, 11 February Cloud will build from the west today with rain developing along the west coast around midday, spreading gradually eastwards across the country through the day.
A wet and windy night with widespread rain and strong and gusty southerly winds, reaching near gale force along western coasts. The rain will be persistent in parts of the west bringing a risk of localised flooding. Temperatures increasing overnight to between 6 and 9 degrees. A clearance to scattered showers will move into the west towards dawn.
Saturday, 12 February Saturday will be a breezy day with outbreaks of rain in the southeast clearing to widespread blustery showers through the morning, with some heavy bursts in places. Some sunny spells will occur also with the showers becoming isolated towards evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.
