The plug-in hybrid powertrain allows the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, but only if you get the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package

Mercedes unveiled the first performance-focused version of the E-Class W214 that's been developed by AMG. The E53 Hybrid 4Matic+ is available in sedan and estate bodystyles with more aggressive looks, a sharper chassis setup, and up to 603 hp of power, optionally available from a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Even though it is still positioned below the upcoming E63 performance flagship , the E53 represents a big step up compared to its predecessor in terms of power and performance.

Predictably, the E53 Hybrid 4Matic+ comes equipped with all the AMG-related goodies, including a stiffened chassis, a sporty suspension setup with adaptive and adjustable damping, a high-performance braking system with larger brakes, and standard rear-axle steering. Furthermore, the AMG Dynamic Plus package adds an electronically controlled rear axle locking differential, even larger composite brakes at the front, dynamic engine mounts, and the Race Start function.
