Meanwhile, $811,328 of federal funding will go to the office building opening next year. It will be constructed out of “mass timber” — which proponents have said is a material easier and less carbon-intensive to work with as compared to a concrete or steel building.Membertou Chief Terry Paul said in a statement the gas bar and office building would be the beginning of “new opportunities to our people, and provide new services for the greater Cape Breton community” based out of Membertou.
