Natalie Newcombe, of Nova Scotia-based Sacred Cottage Creations, uses a combination of embroidery, painted fabric and gemstones to create her art. - Contributed Natalie Newcombe creates wooden wick candles that represent the five elements — earth, fire, wind, water, and spirit. - Contributed“A lot of my inspiration comes from nature-based spirituality and all of the natural elements that surround our beautiful country,” she says.

“When I rekindled my relationship with art as an adult, I would gift a lot of pieces to friends, family, and others alike as a way to bring love and a light to their worlds,” says Newcombe. Besides finding creating art meditative, Newcombe also practices a sleep aid and relaxation technique called the autonomous sensory meridian response . To learn this practice, she follows a YouTube content creator called Karuna Satori.
