@GORDIEHOWEBRG ON X - The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority has announced it’s expected that the two sections of the Gordie Howe International Bridge will be connected over the Detroit River by the end of June.
Once connected, the bridge deck spanning the distance between the two towers will measure 853 metres, or 0.53 miles, making it the longest main span of any cable-stayed bridge in North America and the 10th longest in the world. The bridge is targeted to open in fall 2025. Work remaining includes stressing stay cables and installing electrical, fire suppression and drainage systems, barriers, signage, lighting, deck paving and pavement markings and completing the multi-use path.
