The Court of Judicial Discipline used different criteria to evaluate McKnight's actions and ordered additional time of unpaid suspension and a probationary period.
Sonya McKnight acquitted on all chargesA year and a half after Harrisburg Magisterial District Judge Sonya McKnight was acquitted of criminal charges filed against her for obstructing a traffic stop involving her son, the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline issued sanctions for the ethics violations she committed that night.
McKnight is receiving credit for 190 days of unpaid suspension that she served from Feb. 9, 2021 to Aug. 18, 2021. The remaining 10 days she must now serve will begin Feb. 9, the court ordered. The court also wrote that McKnight’s conduct “eroded respect for the judiciary” and “was committed to advance her own interests or that of her family.”
McKnight’s attorney used dash-cam footage, which did not have audio, to help his case, which shows her as being calm in her interactions and not agitated.
