McKinney selects interim for Cultural District director

Andrew Jones, who has been serving as McKinney’s interim Cultural District director, was selected for the permanent position, Denise Lessard, communications and media manager, said via email.

This position, formerly held by Amy Rosenthal, oversees Main Street, McKinney Performing Arts Center, the Cultural District and special events permits. “We received over 70 applications and an interview panel of six narrowed the field to three very strong finalists,” Lessard said. Finalists met with the interview panel, downtown stakeholders, Main Street/MPAC staff and completed a mock media interview.

“Resoundingly, all groups recommended Andrew for the position based on his exceptional performance over the past few months,” Lessard said. “Andrew and his family live in McKinney, and also own and operate Fair & Square Imports, a popular shop in the Historic Downtown.”. Susan McFarland is a longtime journalist in DFW who previously worked as a city government/crime beat reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and a breaking news reporter for United Press International.
