McKinney police fatally shot a man early Friday who authorities say wielded a machete at a motel, the department said.
Officers were called about 5:15 a.m. to an American Inn in the 200 block of West University Drive, near North Church Street, where they found the man, according to a news release. The man was ordered to drop the machete multiple times, but he refused and came toward police, the release said. Officers fired, striking the man.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name was not released.Email Address
