Shawn Pratt’s longtime experience with the community and district and his experience in school safety and security helped him secure the new role.
Shawn Pratt, who began his career in McKinney ISD in 1992 as a student-teacher, has been named lone finalist for the superintendent job.
The district received 26 applications from inside and outside the state, but focused on candidates from Texas who would be more familiar with the Texas educational system, according to the“During that process, it became very obvious as to why I felt comfortable and excited about Mr. Pratt serving in the role of superintendent,” school board vice president Philip Hassler said during the meeting.
Pratt began his career in MISD in 1992 as a student teacher and was hired by the district in 1993 to serve as a teacher and athletic coordinator. Two years later he became a teacher and assistant football coach at McKinney High School. Pratt served as the schools’ first head football coach when McKinney North opened in 2000. After nine years at North, he was chosen as MISD’s director of athletics.
