The political nonprofit group aligned with Senate Minority LeakerMcConnell is investing $17.1 million in Georgia as part of Republican efforts to oust incumbent Democratic Sen. ReverendWarnock.
Federal law limits electioneering by 5014 organizations like One Nation, which are generally permitted to engage in policy advocacy. But the intent of One Nation’s big, early advertising buy in Georgia is unmistakable — to undermine Warnock’s political standing as he gears up for a challenge from Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker, who is backed by former President Donald Trump.
“We've seen the highest inflation in 40 years — triggered by a massive surge in government spending. Georgia's been hit hard,” the voiceover says as the 30-second ad opens. “Sen. Raphael Warnock was the deciding vote for President Biden's multitrillion-dollar spending spree, sending inflation through the roof and raising gas and grocery prices over 10% on hard-working Georgians.”
Senate Leadership Fund and One Nation are scheduled to spend tens of millions of dollars against incumbent Senate Democrats between now and Nov. 8, bolstering the Republican Party’s bid to recapture the Senate majority after two years in the minority. Georgia emerged as a bona fide battleground in 2020, with Biden becoming the first Democrat to win the state’s electoral votes since 1992 as Republicans lost both Senate seats in a pair of January 2021 runoffs.
