Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer moved to end this trial as swiftly as possible.
The Senate has officially ruled both articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as"unconstitutional," and therefore concluding the trial.
Following both votes, the Senate continued to vote along party lines to adjourn impeachment trial into Mayorkas, despite Republican objections. The articles of impeachment were delivered to the Senate on Tuesday, effectively starting the trial.
