Former mayor Doug McCallum fought the civic election on carrying through with a transition to the Surrey Police Service.The Safe Surrey Coalition — the civic party of former mayor Doug McCallum, who narrowly lost his seat in October campaigning in favour of carrying on the transition to the SPS — shot back that it was an example of Locke’s “bully tactics.”
Coun. Linda Annis, who received the most votes of any councillor in the election, also took issue with Locke’s assertions and said the report’s cost projections contain far too many assumptions. “These assumptions included a nine-month pause in the transition, which has not been previously contemplated by any party, and an assertion that the transition would take another five years, which is also inconsistent with previous discussions with the three levels of government,” noted Lipinski.
