Houston Police Chief Troy Finner is stepping down as chief of the department.
New Insider Deals are perfect for spring and summerIn an email sent by Houston Mayor John Whitmire to members of the department, Whitmire announced he has accepted Finner’s retirement.Finner, a Houston native, had been Chief of HPD for a little over three years.
However, an internal document KPRC 2 Investigates obtained shows Chief Finner was looped in about the code being used by HPD in cases as far back as 2018. In the email dated July 20, 2018, Finner states “this is unacceptable, look into it and follow up with me.” “Now if I go back and look at all your emails over a 10-year period or whatever the period is do you think that you will leave something out? Do you think that you will leave something out? Do you think that there is an intent? There is untruthfulness and there is intent. Did anybody try to perceive or misrepresent anything? No.
