NEW YORK -- Mayor Eric Adams is headed to Ecuador as part of his four-day trip to countries south of the U.S. border to discourage migrants from coming to New York City. The mayor visits Ecuador on Friday, then will go to the Darien Gap in Colombia on Saturday to meet with leaders about situations on the ground leading to the increase in asylum seekers in the city. He says he wants to be clear about the reality of what's taking place here.
