After back-and-forth beef with Golden State star Draymond Green through interviews and podcasts — before and after Warriors-Grizzlies last Thursday — Brooks focused his attention, and voice, on the Mavericks’ All-Star duo. Brooks hoped to instead “settle” for defending Irving, whom he faced twice with the Brooklyn Nets this season while juggling his primary assignment of defending Kevin Durant.
“Nothing should go over the line of personal stuff. If we keep it strictly on the floor, I think we all have a greater time, but once it gets personal, I mean, you know what it turns into out there.”Late in the first quarter, Wood backed down Brooks in the post and pushed him to the ground as he gathered possession to pivot for an easy isolation jumper in the paint.Wood looked back and shouted at Brooks as he stood from the court.
