An artist who built his reputation on the road, playing upwards of 200 shows a year, he has toned it down a bit. But with the new material he’s looking at “a hundred-plus gigs with the new album.” Juno Award-winning producer Steve Dawson worked his magic on the release. “Like everyone, when I started, I did the standard I-V-IV like everybody else, but I quickly got out of it, because it wasn’t something I could do justice too,” he said. “Some people who grew up with that and who are genuine can do that and make it work, but I didn’t and I can’t.

This kind of development comes at a time when Andersen is into his 10th album and finds that, far from playing to the same folks, his audiences keep growing and changing. It’s a nice place to be for the singer.
