Massive Gas Giant Found Circling TOI-2180 astronomy space science
is a bright, slightly evolved G5 star about 380 light-years away in the constellation of Draco.Named TOI-2180b, the alien world has the same diameter as Jupiter, but is 2.8 times more massive., an astronomer with the University of California, Riverside.
The single-transit event of TOI-2180b was spotted by citizen scientists in the data from NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite . Hoping to observe a second transit event, they organized a campaign using 14 different telescopes across three continents in the northern hemisphere.
