Massive downtown power outage may have been caused by crane that took down Hydro One lines
Spokesperson Tiziana Baccega Rosa said they’re investigating reports that the contruction apparatus may have come into contact with the lines while being moved through the Ship Channel by a barge on Thursday morning. She said they’re doing their best to remotely re-route power to areas affected by the outage, but could not provide an exact timeline for when service would be fully restored.
According to Toronto Hydro's outage map, the outage affects affects an area roughly bounded by College Street to the waterfront between the Don Valley Parkway to University Avenue. Toronto police are advising drivers to treat signalized intersections as four-way stops, if the lights are out.
