In a Maryland public school board meeting on Tuesday, councilwoman Kristin Mink compared Muslim beliefs to the agenda of white supremacists.
During the board meeting, the Montgomery County public school district received some serious backlash from students about a proposed LGBT curriculum.Muslim students argued that the curriculum would be an infringement on their religious freedom.
Sa’ad acknowledged that kids may have been unfair to LGBT students in the past, but now the situation has totally flipped: “There are over 40 kids that I know who don’t want to learn this and really want to be here talking today but can’t because they are being bullied … they are the ones being bullies when they say, ‘This is against my religion.’”
Ibrahim spoke to represent his first and third-grade cousins, arguing that they aren’t prepared for LGBT discussions because they aren’t developmentally ready. Hude blatantly stated that installing an LGBT curriculum without an opt-out option would force some students to participate in a conversation that contradicts their faith.
