We chat with Heels star Mary McCormack about Willie's role in the DWL, mentoring Crystal, and the backstory revelations of season 2 of the STARZ series:
Mary McCormack returns as Willie Day in Heels season 2, and she gets even deeper into the past and future of the Duffy Wrestling League. In Heels season 2, Willie continues to carry the day-to-day burdens of the DWL and she's caught in the middle of the sibling rivalry between Jack Spade and Ace Spade .
Mary McCormack: Yeah, I love all that. I mean, it is definitely in season 1. Starting the whole series with the suicide of the patriarch of all of it is unusual, right? Because it does beg all these questions, and you realize all of our dynamics are because of him. And yes, Willie knows where all the bodies are buried. She and Tom set it up. I would love a season 3 because I would like to get even further into that. I have more questions for Mike O'Malley about [all of it.
Mary McCormack: I start to mentor her. [Crystal is] the champ at the end of season 1 and has the belt. And then the question is how do we sustain that? She can't beat up guy after guy after guy every week. That's not believable. And she can't be beaten up every week by men. So it's sort of the natural progression into developing the women's division. And Willie has spent her life in pain because she was never in that ring. It's the perfect opportunity for her.
Mary McCormack: It has to be. It's the only way to make it work. So I think so. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Staci Spade handing off dirty money? I'm gonna correct her.
