Steakhouse staff already treated to a feed of fried chicken

JOHN'S, N.L. — Mary Brown’s owner and CEO Greg Roberts is adding another specialty to his growing restaurant portfolio: steak.
He has owned the building since early last year, and then approached the former owners, Ontario-based Wise Group, about taking over the restaurant. “It's a fantastic brand — it's been around for over 50 years, and I know when I go to The Keg … they have a way of service and training that you don't really see in a lot of other restaurants. So, along with a great brand, the training program in itself is kind of part of the reason for the purchase, to learn and to make synergies with that franchise and the Mary Brown’s franchise,” Bennett said when asked why Roberts decided to purchase The Keg.
Bennett said one of the first big plans for The Keg under new ownership is to get more involved in the community, whether by volunteering, or donating to local charities.Within the first few weeks under the new ownership, staff at The Keg were already treated to a feed of Mary Brown’s as a show of appreciation, Bennett said.
