Rhodey's Skrull Replacement Timeline Creates An Iron Man Problem For Phase 6 Iron Man created a new War Machine suit in Endgame, with a seemingly drastic revamp being done on the supersuit. This sets up an interesting issue for Phase 6 and its prospective Armor Wars plot line, as there's a very real chance Rhodey won't know how to operate the new suit - or at least operate it as well - due to these changes, and he doesn't have Iron Man or JARVIS to help him acclimatize.
Why Rhodey's Replacement Timeline Makes His Superhero Future So Challenging Alongside all of this, James Rhodes will have to catch up with all the years he missed - including what his Skrull replacement did in his place for all those years - and also need to discover the extent of the damage he actually took in the Civil War fight, which for him is still fresh in his mind.
Rhodey's inability to get support from Iron Man or Vision set up a perfect precedent for him to team up with of White Vision or Ironheart, providing him an exciting tie to future MCU installments. Similarly, the fact these tasks seem to mirror many of Stark's own - learning to use a new suit, learning how to adapt to specific medical needs, and learning how to form a team to support him - hint that War Machine will indeed be the official Iron Man successor.
