Marni Soupcoff: All schools should be charter schools during a pandemic
The scenario, one of several contemplated by the TDSB, would involve putting students into classes of 15 kids. According to the board, that would require hiring about 2,500 new unionized teachers . Hence the $249 million. Boom. Done.

Or at least display some evidence of trying to innovate and change in response to the rough predicament in which the world finds itself?

They need responsive educational leaders who are empowered to deliver personalized strategies to make sure kids are safe and thriving.
Some ideas would work. Others would not. The beauty of a charter school is that it is free to make quick course corrections, using real-time feedback to learn what is effective and modify what is not.
