Mark Carney, former Bank of Canada governor, secures key endorsements from several cabinet ministers including Patty Hajdu, Steven Guilbeault, and Gary Anandasangaree, boosting his campaign to succeed Justin Trudeau as leader of the federal Liberal party.

OTTAWA — Mark Carney won several key endorsements Tuesday for his campaign to succeed Justin Trudeau as leader of the federal Liberal party.The Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North revealed her endorsement in a social media post, saying Carney "has the experience to tackle affordability, fight climate change, and grow our economy. I’m backing him because he understands Canadians’ challenges and knows how to build stronger communities and a brighter future.

Carney, the former governor of the Bank of Canada, also received support Tuesday from Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and from Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree.Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan and Diversity and Inclusion Minister Kamal Khera are also supporting Carney.

Chrystia Freeland, the former deputy Prime Minister, has endorsements from Health Minister Mark Holland, Justice Minister Arif Virani, Fisheries and Oceans Minister Diane Lebouthillier and Citizens’ Services Minister Terry Beech.
