Looking for a remedy, a raft of reefer businesses have turned to superlawyer David Boies, who on Thursday sued Attorney General Merrick Garland, seeking to strike down marijuana restrictions now in place under the federal Controlled Substances Act. The suit, filed in federal district court in Springfield, Mass., argues the prohibition exceeds congressional authority over interstate commerce by interfering with state-based businesses that don’t operate across state lines.
