Within minutes, Clare pulled out a gun, threatened Gardner and chased her as she ran out of the home, the affidavit said. He shot her outside, then returned to the home, police said. A wounded Gardner ran back inside the home to protect her children, and Clare shot her several more times. As she was crawling outside for help, he stabbed Willow and Gardner’s other daughter — Rosalie Clare, 2 — with a knife, police said.
