A new play called American Mariachi at the Alley Theater with the goal to empower women to break barriers and be a part of any male-dominated world.
The main character Lucha is described as having a"very desperate need to connect her mother to her memories as she is going through the disease of Alzheimer's through this power of music," said Elena Valladolid-Rivera, Alley's manager of emerging audiences"Breaking the barriers of the norms that mariachi was only for men," said Jose Longoria the Director of theLongoria played an integral role in this play, teaching actresses how to play instruments.
