Keefe had previously said Tavares was day-to-day after after he suffered the undisclosed ailment during Monday's loss to the Los Angeles Kings., who hasn't played a game for the Maple Leafs this season, will take warmups in case Tavares isn't able to play. The 23-year-old has four points through nine games with the Toronto Marlies this season.
Tavares has been scorching hot lately, scoring six goals and notching four assists in the Maple Leafs’ past six games before his scratch.will start in goal Friday. The 29-year-old netminder is coming off a 36-save shutout against the Flyers and has started each of Toronto's last five games, going 4-1-0.
Backup goaltender Petr Mrazek, who was expected to split duties with Campbell, is out for approximately four weeks with a groin injury. Joseph Woll has since been called up in his place and could make his NHL debut Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres., and avoid posting profanity, personal attacks or harassment.
