Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner took turns posing as Sobeys trainees, pranking unsuspecting customers.
Before they do their best to put the biscuit in the basket against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, some Maple Leafs stars tried their hand at doing it in a more literal sense.
After the woman he asked to do the pushups explained she was pregnant and couldn’t do them herself, Matthews took it upon himself to get in a little workout and ‘earn’ the gift card for the customer. Marner even got the cashier in on the bit, offering up a jar of peanut butter for a taste, which she happily accepted – much to the delight of his teammates behind the scenes.The players later ditched the disguises to help customers load their groceries into their vehicles and posed for some photos.
