Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas got his biggest move out of the way a week ago when he acquired forwards Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari from the St. Louis Blues.
Defencemen linked to the Leafs in speculation have included Jake McCabe, Luke Schenn, Vladislav Gavrikov, Carson Soucy and Jakob Chychrun, among others. The latter would command the highest price, one that likely would put the Leafs out of the running. “I don’t know who’s out there, what other teams are thinking, it’s always interesting. The Leafs made a big splash in acquiring O’Reilly and Acciari. The Boston Bruins, more or less home and cooled out in first place in the Atlantic Division with a 15-point lead on the Leafs, got their hands on defenceman Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnet Hathaway in a deal with Washington on Thursday.
