Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was fined US$5,000 by the NHL for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway during the Maple Leafs' 3-2 overtime win on Sunday. Hathaway had been involved in a first-period fight with Jake McCabe, leaving the Leafs defenseman dazed and unable to return. Domi targeted Hathaway's head twice with an elbow along the boards in the third period.
The fine, the maximum allowed under the league's collective bargaining agreement, goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. Also Monday, the Leafs placed McCabe on injured reserve. He will miss games Tuesday in Philadelphia, Thursday in Carolina and Saturday at home to Vancouver
