TORONTO — Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews skated with his teammates Wednesday, but will not play Thursday against the New York Islanders.
"It's frustrating not playing. Trying to be mindful of everything that goes on and it's nice to still be around the guys a lot. Being able to take part in practice is big, especially when you've been out for a little bit. He indicated that he re-aggravated the injury in a Dec. 20 game against Buffalo when he contributed a power-play goal in a 6-3 victory.
