Some teens may be hesitant about investing in the stock market after the GameStop trading frenzy, according to a survey. Here's why that may be a problem.

"A percentage of teens have been basically sidelined because of this," said Ed Grocholski, senior vice president of brand for Junior Achievement USA.

Their reluctance to invest may affect putting money into their first workplace 401 plan, Grocholski said. Although the survey showed teens' hesitancy about the stock market, there were also signs of interest. "A lot of these teens are already thinking about different ways to invest other than the stock market," Edwards said. "And diversifying is a really good thing."
