Two holes\u002Din\u002Done were the highlight of the Ottawa Sun Scramble\u0027s GolfWorks A Division Saturday at eQuinelle Golf Club.
Chris Vollett and Jim Phillipps, the playing partners for Domenic and his brother Nic during Round 1 of the Ottawa Sun Scramble’s GolfWorks A Division, started congratulating Domenic. “It’s in,” they said.“, I couldn’t see the ball,” he said. “I knew it was close. But I wasn’t sure. They told me it went in and I said, ‘I don’t know.’ They had their rangefinder and said, ‘Look, there’s no ball on the green.
After breaking his elbow two months ago, Eric Legris didn’t know what to expect when he teamed up with his brother for Round 1. The Legris brothers, who grew up in Aylmer, had birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 on the front and 10 and 15 on the back. After 10 holes, they were 6-under. They settled in, staying out of trouble, maybe leaving a couple more birdies out on the course.
Now, it’s on to The Marshes. It’s a course that gave them trouble a year ago. Going into Round 2, they led at 8-under, then struggled through a 1-under to finish tied for eighth place, seven shots behind winners Jon Freda and Curtis Proulx.“If you hit greens in regulation, it’s a different mindset,” said Eric. “If you’re struggling for pars, if you’re grinding, the pressure comes in. Today, there was no pressure. You aim for the centre of the green; that works for us.
