Manny Ramirez was inducted into the Cleveland Guardians Hall of Fame prior to Saturday's game against Detroit.
Ramirez was joined on the field by his family including his wife, Juliana and his sons Manny Ramirez, Jr. and Manuelito Ramirez as well as his mother, Onelcida.
“My best memory was the last game that I played here, my last at-bat,” Ramirez said. “A home run to straight center field. I think that’s one of my best memories ever.” Ramirez said it was a blessing to reconnect with the people here who helped him grow as a player and as a person. “To be honest, nothing drove me. I just wanted to go and play the game. I was a kid coming out of New York City excited to come and show people what I could do. I always had that drive, but I wasn’t looking to be the best right-handed hitter ever. I was just playing and competing and knowing that if I fell I could get up. Knowing that there is always another day if it’s God’s will.”“Everybody misses that. People don’t know what you do behind the scenes. Everybody’s a natural.
