It's as if two lost souls found one another, after Phoenix came into Tschanen's care last December as part of a litter of six pups rescued from Cross Lake. Phoenix and her littermates. All but Phoenix succumbed to the distemper virus. "I'm definitely the animal person. I have seven dogs myself and two cats. Somehow those animals always find the way to us," she said.
"Phoenix is such a poor soul. She has severe neurological problems, she has twitches and stuff going on, and she is helping a feral kitten." Phoenix will play with the other dogs, but as soon as she's back in the house, she's looking for Snickers.
