Ontario is one of three provinces that does not have any sort of a provincial rebate program for purchase electric vehicles
Manitoba, a province that has significant nickel mining operations, has announced a rebate program for people who purchase or lease electric vehicles in that province. The rebate program came into effect July 2.
“The development of a real critical minerals strategy is key to being a low carbon leader for generations to come ... These minerals are essential for a wide range of applications, including clean energy technologies, electronics, telecommunications, and advanced manufacturing,” said the budget. The same document promised lower costs for Manitoba residents with the rebates for electric vehicles.
The Manitoba Electric Vehicle Rebate Program will be in effect from July 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026, said the release.
