The City Council of Manila passed a resolution on Thursday, July 8, allowing the opening of spaces for private entities in Manila Clock Tower (MCT) Museum. ManilaBulletin
In a regular session presided by Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, the city council passed the resolution authorizing Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan to enter through public bidding the idle spaces at the clock tower.
The resolution, sponsored by Third District Councilor Ernesto "Jong" Isip, the majority floor leader, cites the Local Government Code of 1991 allowing the mayor to enter into contracts on behalf of the local government with prior authorization from the city council. The city government said the resolution permits the mayor to put additional attractions in the vacant spaces in the tower aside from the displayed artworks. It also plans to put language translations on the artworks for foreign visitors.
The Manila Clock Tower Museum was inaugurated last December 27 and was officially opened as a prime tourist spot by Lacuna-Pangan last October.
