Residents of Centerville, about 120 miles north of Houston, are on alert as the man with a violent criminal history remains at large. 'He's somebody that is very dangerous,' Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Robert Hurst said.

Gonzalo Lopez, 46, stabbed a guard and escaped from a bus en route to Huntsville Thursday, according to TDCJ reports. As Lopez ran away from the crash, Smith and Brinegar pursued and fired shots. Authorities are not sure if Lopez is injured.
