Move is in response to 'detectable increase in COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses,' hospital says
Due to a "detectable increase in COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses" in the community, Sault Area Hospital is reinstating its mandatory masking policy, effective Wednesday, Oct. 11, the hospital stated in a news release.
All healthcare workers and members of the public must wear a mask or face covering upon entering Sault Area Hospital or SAH’s community-based locations, SAH said."Healthcare workers are required to wear masks in public areas of any SAH site, when having direct contact with a patient or visitor, and in all areas of patient care units," according to the release.
Meanwhile, all members of the public must wear a mask or face covering upon entering Sault Area Hospital or SAH’s community-based locations.Mandatory masking does not apply to children under the age of two and those who are unable to wear a face covering as a result of a medical condition or disability, the hospital said.
"COVID-19, and other respiratory viruses continue to circulate in our community," said SAH. "Please continue to follow the advice of medical experts when it comes to masking if you are not feeling well, and check with your primary care providers whether you are due for vaccinations." "We appreciate the public’s continued patience and understanding of past and present measures to reduce the opportunity for respiratory virus transmission in our hospital settings. The safety and well-being of our HCWs, patients, and visitors at SAH are paramount."
