Simmons faces up to life in prison if convicted of murder, but the fate of his trial is unclear. Dallas County prosecutors, defense lawyers and state District Judge Hector Garza agreed a new trial date would be set once Simmons is arrested.said he didn’t believe he’d get a fair trial.
