A man charged in connection to sucker punching a stranger in the head in Vancouver will remain in custody until his next court appearance. A high-quality video was released to the public showing the unprovoked assault that took place at 10:04 p.m.Down the street in a doorway, a man dressed in a plaid shirt can be seen hunched over and looking at the man walking towards him.

"Several bystanders assisted the victim after he was knocked to the ground, while others flagged down VPD officers,” says a spokesperson with Vancouver police.Shettell was arrested on Dec. 4 by a police officer patrolling downtown. Shettel made his first appearance on the charges on Dec. 4 before Judicial Justice Tim Holmes. Court documents show he is being represented by lawyer Adrian Picard.

Two people were wounded and a suspect was shot after a stabbing in Vancouver’s Library Square on Dec. 4. The armed suspect was shot by police and died.
