Police responded to reports a man was trying to break into a house and located a suspect 'yelling incoherently,' according to Burnaby RCMP.
A 36-year-old man was tasered and several police officers sustained minor injuries during what police described as a "disturbance" at a residence in Burnaby’s Edmonds neighbourhood Monday evening.
Officers were called to a house in the 7400 block of Humphries Avenue near 17th Avenue at 6:15 p.m., according to an emailed Burnaby RCMP statement.At the scene officers located a 36-year-old man "yelling incoherently," according to police. The man became "assaultive" toward the officers, who eventually deployed a conducted energy weapon, police said.
"With the assistance of multiple officers, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital," stated the email.Images taken of the incident show a large emergency response with multiple ambulances as well as Burnaby RCMP, New Westminster Police and Metro Vancouver Transit Police vehicles at the scene.Follow Cornelia Naylor on X/Twitter @CorNaylor
