Police said the suspect threatened a woman in her tent prior to the deadly stabbing.

Responding officers located a man with multiple stab wounds to his torso in the roadway. SDPD began life-saving measures on the man before paramedics arrived and performed CPR. A short time later, however, the victim was declared dead at the scene.Sign up for NBC San Diego newsletters.

SDPD said Bellow is believed to be unsheltered. He was initially treated for minor injuries at an area hospital before his arrest. He's now facing charges that include murder, making criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and burglary. The identity of the deceased has not been released, but police believe the victim was also an unhoused individual.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact SDPD's Homicide Unit at 531-2293. Anonymous tips can be made by contacting Crime Stoppers at 580-8477.
