OAKLAND — A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times Wednesday evening in East Oakland as he was trying to flee robbers who had just taken another man’s wallet, authorities said.

The violence happened about 5:48 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of School Street near Pleitner Avenue. The older man gave the robbers his wallet, police said. The younger man started to run away and was shot by one of the robbers.
